The "downshifting lifestyle" can be seen from many different angles - you know that. For some people it's about living greener, for someone else it's about moving abroad or to the countryside, for many it's about quitting their job.
To me "downshifting" means a change of focus. From work, career, prestige, money to all the big and small things that really give me pleasure in my everyday life, whatever they are. A shift of energy from the attempt of succeeding in the rat race to the search for a better work/life balance.
I work in marketing, in a big multinational company. I like my job and I must say I feel very lucky. But I'm tired of dedicating so much energy and time to it. Success, gratification and a good salary are there, but excessive workload, big responsabilities, un-manageble line managers and frustrations are stealing too much from my life.
More focus on life, less on work: my way to enjoy the marvels of a normal life... that could become extraordinary.
My journey towards "downshifting" has begun.
